Blair Thomas Fraser

May 24, 1945 — June 9, 2024

Sydney

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving father, grandfather and brother, Blair Thomas Fraser on June 9, 2024, after a courageous battle with dementia at the age of 79.

Blair began his career at the age of 18 sailing lake boats in Ontario for many years. We often heard stories of his adventures during that time. He then worked for over 20 years with Devco as a welder working in Lingan and Prince Mine.

Born May 24, 1945, in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late John Fraser and the late Edythe (Crowther) Fraser.

He is survived by his children Jordy (Cheryl) Fraser, and Cavelle (Colin) Young and his precious grandchildren Kaiden, Jase, Sloan, and Olivia, who all adored their Papa, and he will be forever missed in their lives. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters Candace(Ozzy), Charlene(Ken), Celeste(late Bob), Debbie(Larry), Paula(John), Dwight(late Molly), Barry(Helen), Kevin(Odessa) and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Jackie and Wayne, and sister Sherry.

Our dad lost the love of his life, his wife of 55 years, Ann Marie (Morrison) Fraser in early 2022, he struggled through life without her, but we take comfort in knowing they are together again.

A special thank you to all the staff at Taigh Solas, where our dad resided for the past few years. Your kindness and compassion throughout his time with you and in his final days were beyond what we could have expected.

As per his wishes, there will be no service or visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Thank you all for your well wishes and condolences.

If you wish to honour Blair by donation, the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be a great choice.
