Bernice Blanche Eagles

September 12, 1948 — February 17, 2023

Glace Bay

It is with heavy hearts, we the family of Bernice Eagles, at age 74, announce her sudden passing on Friday, February 17, 2023 after a brief illness on the Intensive Care unit, CBRH,surrounded by family. Bernice 'Ma' was born on September 12, 1948 to the late Charles, and Carmiella (Poirier) Roberts.

Bernice is survived by her husband, Wayne Eagles, of 56 years, also leaves behind her daughter Kim (Keith) Thomas, her sons John (Erla), and Darrell, grandchildren Ryleigh Mc Isaac, Kaitlyn (Gerald), Josh (Krista) and great grandson Remy Sudworth. Ma also is survived by her sisters, Valerie, Rosemarie, and Mary, brothers; Gerard, Stanley, and John, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as in-laws, Eagles family.

Ma was predeceased by her parents and siblings Frances, Carol, Marilyn, Lorraine, Doug, Michael, Charles (Junior), Emery (Bumper), Daniel (Buddy), and two siblings in infancy.
Ma deeply missed her closest friends, her sister Lorraine and Joan O’Brien who we are sure she is playing bingo with again.

Ma officially retired at age 73 from Seaview Manor Housekeeping department on October 7, 2022 after 35 years of dedication. Ma also was employed for over 20 years at Highland Fisheries in Glace Bay. Bernice dedicated her life to her work, her family, and her friends. She will always be remembered for her quick wit, her loyalty, her compassion, and her famous cabbage rolls.

Ma was very quiet and private at heart which is why there will be no visitation or memorial services as this is her final wish. There will be a private family service at a later date as per her wishes. Ma has been cremated and remains have been entrusted with Forest Haven Memorial Gardens & Crematory, where she will have a view of the water.

We would like to thank her in-laws, Kevin, Wendy, and Tommy for dropping everything, coming to help out family at a time in need. We would also like to thank the staff of the ER department, and Intensive Care unit of CBRH for their compassionate and tremendous care Ma received during her brief stay which also allowed Ma to pass peacefully. This also provided peace to her family during her passing.

Ma till we meet again.
