It is with sadness but also with the recognition of, and respect for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Barbara Gowing on July 8, 2020. Born in Listowel, Ontario, long time resident of Sydney and most recently a guest of the R.C. MacGillivray Guest Home.

Barb certainly loved the wonders of nature and the simple things in life. Point Michaud Beach was a place where special times were enjoyed with her long time companion Allan. Along with spending time on the beach, she shared a love of fly fishing as well as being able to keep up with Allan on the dance floor.  Always ready for a walk, Barb & Allan were a constant presence on the Sydney Boardwalk until her health diminished. She is survived by not only her long time companion Allan Mombourquette, but also daughters Denise, Kim, Kelly & Natasha; sons Denie & Brett; grandchildren Adrian, Alec, Dyson, Bailey, Matthew, Jessica, Jade, Stephanie, Michael, Jasmine, Madison & Araya; great grandchildren Sophie & Rhyliegh.  sisters, Maxine, Shirley, Ruth, Pat, and her Brothers, Danny and Doug.

With respect to Barb's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. We want to extend our deep appreciation to all the staff at MacGillivray Guest Home for the wonderful care given to Barb.

Throughout her illness she found comfort in B.J. Thomas'  "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head".

To all who loved her smile, remember her when you hear it being played........... She'll be nearby.

Expressions of sympathy may be left on the Tribute Wall of this page
