She was born in Glace Bay NS on November 5th, 1926 to the late Duncan MacLeod and Janet (Jennie) Ferguson.
In her school years, Anna discovered a passion for reading and learning that led to a fulfilling career as a teacher, attending Normal School, and completing her B.Ed from Mount A. Her career began at South Street School, continued at Morrison High School and culminated in her retirement from Central School. She often shared loving memories of the children she taught who touched her heart and whose names she always remembered.
She was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, where she attended services, volunteered and made lasting friendships.
She lived with and cared for her mother until her passing in 1991. Their relationship was one of unwavering devotion and companionship. From their home on Kent Street, (shared with her brother, Eddie) to their apartment on Main Street (fondly called Kerr’s) and finally their forever home built on Currie Street, Anna enjoyed providing a warm, cozy place for her mom.
Anna filled her life with many activities and hobbies like knitting, sewing, crafting, reading, crosswords, crypto quotes, and puzzles. In her youth She loved to ski, and play badminton. Anna loved to travel the world and went on many adventures with her friends, Rachel and Isabel Ferguson, Harriet Townsend, Tillie Scott and family members, taking pictures wherever she went and sending postcards home as mementos.
She was predeceased by her parents Duncan and Janet; sisters Aileen, Pearl, Shirley and her beloved brother Eddie and infant brother, Archibald; brother-in-laws, Allan, Rollie and Kenny; nephew Bradley, nephew in law Glenn, 3 nephews in infancy, and grand nieces Michelle and Anna.
