Alexander 'Sandy' William Chisholm

It is with profound sadness that we the family of Alexander “Sandy” Chisholm announce his death at the age of 72 on July 28, 2025. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Sandy is survived by his children Jennifer (Rodney) Lesnick, Blair, and Dawn Marie and their mothers Isabel MacKay and Kathleen Chisholm (Murphy), and grandsons Connor and Dylan Lesnick; as well as his brother James (Pauline) Chisholm, sisters Mary MacNevin and Anne (Robert) Chisholm, and his best friend Marcel Cossette.

He is predeceased by his parents Blair and Frances (Fitzgerald) and his sister Nancy Phalen.

Sandy was a dedicated and loyal employee at Yazers for 19 years and then Walmart Spar Road for 30 years. He made many long lasting friendships along the way.

We would like to express our gratitude to Sandy’s care team at the Cape Breton Cancer Centre and Palliative Care, his family physician Dr. Jesse Baxendale, as well as the staff of 3 West at the Dartmouth General Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.

A celebration of life will be held Monday August 4th from 3-5PM at Ashby Legion (upstairs).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre.
