MacINTYRE, Alana Marie 1960-2019 We, the family, regret to announce the passing of Alana Marie MacIntyre age 59, on Monday September 16, 2019. After battling a lengthy illness, Alana passed away peacefully, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Alana was the first-born child of Al and the late Hughena (Whalen) MacIntyre. Alana had many great loves in her life; mainly her family, friends, and her love of God. She had great faith, and spent many years studying and interpreting the Bible. Alana also loved working with children, and took pride and fulfilment from her involvement with local organizations including the Glace Bay Police Boys and Girls Club, the Undercurrent Youth Group, and Dominion House of Healing. Alana will be sadly missed by her father, Al MacIntyre; brother, Michael (Carla) and sister, Debbie, as well as her nieces and nephew, Devon, Breanna, Jessica, and Samantha. Also surviving are her uncles, John MacIntyre, Lou (Patsy) Whalen, and Rannie (Marylin) Whalen; her aunt, Lucy Jackson as well as many cousins; a special thank you to cousins, Anne (Wally) Hennessy (whom Alana considered a sister) and Jason Fowler. There will be no visitation at Alana’s request. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Holy Cross Church, Seaview Street, Glace Bay, Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Cremation will take place with internment at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glace Bay. Donations in Alana’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
